1. Sin
Sin is not God’s enemy; Sin is your enemy. Because what your sin does is that it relegates you from a dimension of expression. You see, laws govern the spirit realm. When you fail to meet the demand of a realm, you are relegated from that realm. So, if you were supposed to be prospering and at 100%. Your sin is going to reduce you.
The reason why the devil brings temptation is not for you to sin. It is because of the effect of sin. Sin postpones the day of greatness. If something great is coming, what the enemy does is bring a temptation, so that at the end you will sin.
2. Comfort
Everything worthwhile is uphill. End of story. Everything worthwhile is uphill. Let me tell you: Greatness is not simple; t’s difficult. It’s not easy. It’s not fast. Craigslist is uphill. It doesn’t matter your age. It doesn’t matter your job. It does not matter your background. Greatness is uphill. That is why other people inherit so much, only to bury it all. Why? Because greatness is uphill.
Cleanliness isn’t simple; that is why you should respect great people. The reason you are not as great as you could be is that you can’t take pain. Pain is your enemy. But to great people, pain is their ally.
Great people are built different; you chase comfort. But Discomfort, you run away from it.
Great people thrive in discomfort. It is never by accident. Minister Louis Farrakhan said something powerful: He said the reason you are born is that you get frustrated and disappointed with the slow pace of the fulfilment of your desire, so you obstruct the process and wonder why you are a bum on life’s highway.
Hear me very well; A weak heart is not meant for greatness. You need a lion’s heart to be great. It all shows you that between Joshua 1:1 and Joshua 1:9, God told Joshua, “Be strong and courageous, 3 times. Joshua is about to be great, and the only thing God was saying to him over and over again is: be strong and be courageous.
The top is not for weaklings. You must let difficulty know that you 2 are difficult. Some of you are too simple. You see great people and think they had it easy. You see happy people and think things are just working out. There are demons we slay you know nothing about. There are battles we fight you know nothing about. We face things you know nothing about. What you see is the glory, but not our story.
3. Pride
1 Peter 5: 5 says: God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. So, imagine when there is pride, God himself is the one fighting the person. Why would God himself resist the proud? So, in other words, you cannot walk with God and be proud, and God is the one who’s lifting you. No, God will be the one to bring you down. And when God is the one bringing you down, you have no one to save you. Even the devil cannot come and say, “I’m saving this one now.” God resist the proud, and what does he do? He gives grace to the humble.
Now listen: James 4:6 says, “God opposes the proud.” So, in other words, if you are full of pride, you are going this way; God is going that way. He opposes the proud. So, you and God cannot go in the same direction as long as you have pride. I hate pride. Proverbs 8: 30
How do you know somebody fears God? When you try to find pride in them, you can’t. That’s when you know somebody fears God. The Lord fears to hate evil and pride. Some of you hate evil, but you love pride. You are arrogant. And now, when you are confronted, why are you so arrogant? I’m not arrogant; I’m confident. Shut up. You are arrogant.
4. Your environment
This is what the enemy uses to stop people from becoming great. It’s important to pay attention to your environment. It is very dangerous to plant the right things in the wrong environment. It all comes down to environment. That’s why I always encourage people. You have to be in an environment where greatness is allowed.
Surround yourself with people. Who, every time they are seated, are thinking greatness; you know, make your way around then, even if you are to Polish their shoes; serve those people.
So it’s very, very important for you to be around people who will encourage you, who actually encourage greatness… Some places fight greatness. No matter how great you are, once you’re in that environment, that environment will pull you down. And sometimes it’s not a physical location. Sometimes it’s people.
There are some places where, the minute you begin to do well, the people will start to act differently around you. They will start talking bad about you, talking behind your back. You’ll realise some people are happy with you as long as you stay small. They love the lower version of you. They love the Caterpillar version of you. But once you have to become a butterfly, they can’t handle the butterfly version of you.
They love you when you’re crawling, because they enjoy stepping on you. But as soon as you now fly like this, like a butterfly, they will fight you. Some people don’t mind you growing. Trust me on that. They don’t want you to grow. Remember, Saul had no problem with David; he loved David. “Played the harp for me, David.” People made songs; now they were singing about David. Not the king. And the king had a problem, and we saw now he wanted to end him.
He was in an environment that didn’t encourage greatness. You can keep going through tough times, and people won’t notice. Fight my battles. But once you start becoming great, they’ll fight you. Those places are very dangerous; I’m being honest with you. Some people are anointed to track others down, while others are anointed to lift others. So, the thing about greatness is you have to make sure you are in. There’s a place where people around you don’t see your success as a threat to them. Even when you start talking about your dreams, they still don’t see you as a threat.
