In Part One, we explored five signs that may help you reflect on your sense of purpose: a desire for greatness, difficult seasons, misunderstanding, vivid dreams, and isolation. But the journey doesn’t end there, because four more signs are worth examining. In this second part, we will look at helping others, breaking unhealthy family patterns, developing a strong desire to succeed, and understanding why a heart for service is one of the most important qualities of true greatness. Let’s continue.
Sign number 5: When you are isolated. Or when you feel isolated.
Isolation isn’t meant to break you. God does not allow the season of isolation to break you. Isolation is meant for elevation, but the only way to come out and be elevated is when you have a revelation. No one, no one, absolutely no one. Who can stand and say I’m great because of God? But I’ve never been isolated. No one. It is like a school fee that every great person has to pay.
As long as you are a child of destiny, you will go through this. And it is in that season that heaven sharpened you. Now God doesn’t want you to listen to echoes or voices. Let me come to your level, some of you. Voices, He wants you to learn to hear His voice. So whenever you go through a season of isolation and feel isolated, that is a major sign. In fact, this isn’t just a sign; it’s a major sign that you’re distant from greatness.
Sign number 6: You help others, but no one helps you.
Even if it is difficult for you, even when it seems like you can’t help, you still help when you know no one comes to help you. And then you murmur, you complain, you whine, but you still help. Then ask yourself, how come everyone comes to me? And I have no one to go to. And that is because God Himself expects you to go to Him.
So don’t worry when you feel like you are the one helping. When they have problems, they come to you. You’re always the one giving solutions. I mean, you should expect it, because to whom much is given, much is expected.
Sign Number 7: You believe you are a curse breaker?
In your family or generation, you believe you are a curse breaker. Be it a family curse, be it an inherited curse or what you call a generational curse, it doesn’t matter. You believe you are a curse breaker.
You believe that through you, something will start. You believe that generational traumas will not continue after you. You believe that the poverty that you inherited will not continue after you. You believe your children will not have to start from scratch. You believe you are called for more than what people think you’re called for.
And before you are called to the world, you are called to your family and your two generations. Not everyone can break a generational curse. Only someone God has set apart can break a curse.
Jabez was breaking a curse, and Jabez prayed. And listen to what he said. He said, “Oh God of Israel, bless me real good and increase my territory.” The Bible says God heard this prayer, blessed him, increased his territory, and Jabez was great. I’m telling you now. Not everyone can break a generational curse.
Sign number 8: You have a burning desire to succeed.
No matter how much they convince you. They tell you that in heaven you have your mansions. In heaven you will walk in the streets of God. In heaven, you will have your Rolls-Royce. Right. No matter how much they convince you, you say. I hear that. But I want my Rolls-Royce here; no matter how much they convince you that in heaven you’ll have a mansion, you will still insist that you want your mansion here first.
You succeed so you can take care of those close to you. You succeed so you can help those close to your heart.
Sign number 9: when you serve.
The sign that is bigger than all signs that shows that you are destined for greatness is when you serve. Well, Jesus himself- I believe it’s Matthew 20:26– when they are the greatest and all of that. He didn’t dispute or fight what they were saying, meaning God is not against greatness, because they asked him who’s going to be great among all of you. Then Jesus said Whoever wants to be great among you, let him serve.
So Jesus supports greatness, but he gave them a formula. One sign you are destined for greatness is that you serve. If you are not leadable, you are not ready to lead anybody. As long as you are not teachable, you’re not ready to teach anybody. If you are not leadable, you are not ready to lead. If you can’t serve, don’t expect to be served.
Look at Elisha, for example. He followed Elijah for 34 to 38 years; when King Jehoshaphat asked in 2 Kings 3:15, “Is there not a prophet in Israel?” They said, “There is no prophet except Elisha.” Put hot water in the hands of Elijah, and they said, ” That one. The word of the Lord is with him. Bring him.
They never identified him by the miracles he performed. By his service, Elijah had already healed the water of the Jordan. He had healed a buried land. He had called bears to come and eat those young boys who were making fun of him. He was already moving in miracles. He had already parted the waters in the Jordan as he was going back, remember, in the Jordan River.
So he had performed miracles, but instead of saying, “We knew him; he can prophesy,” No, they said he put water in the hands of Elijah. In the book of Mark, we read that he was with Paul. He was with Peter. He was after them. Mark was not a disciple. No, he didn’t witness Jesus life. No, no, no, no, he was not there; he was not a witness, unlike John, you know.
No, whatever Mark wrote, someone told him, and that was Peter. And of course he had divine inspiration for some of it. Are you hearing me? When was he? But what about Paul? No, listen, you’re not Paul, first of all. But let’s talk about Paul. Paul himself was served in the church in Antioch. That was even after he met Jesus.
A man named Ananias went to pray for him, and after praying, the Lord said, “The men shall tell you what to do.” Ananias, the man from Damascus, told Paul to go and serve in Antioch. Paul served in the church in Antioch, and when you read, Bible experts say the teachers were teaching, and the prophets were prophesying; among them was Elijah. The Holy Spirit said that the way prayer and fasting separated Paul and Barnabas.
The Holy Spirit did not speak to Paul, and Barnabas spoke to the leaders. Why? Because they were serving. They were under leadership. They prayed for them. They released, yet Paul had an encounter with Jesus. Some of you can see Jesus today even as you couldn’t before. You won’t be hearing us today. Click here for the part 1
