Have you ever worked so hard at everything you lay your hands to do, giving it all your time and strength, yet it still feels like you are not doing anything? These are signs you are under spiritual attack, and you need to take spiritual action now to bring it under control. So let us look at those nine signs that show you are under attack.
1. Nightmares
The word nightmare: a lot of people know what night means, but very few people know what mare means. Mare is a mythological term that is used to describe a demon that visits people. So they say it is a nightmare because a demon mostly visits people at night. So it is a diabolic visitation that happens at night. It is not divine. It’s diabolic. It’s evil.
All of a sudden, you can’t sleep anymore. You can’t sleep peacefully at all; even after you sleep, the moment you wake up, you still feel like you didn’t sleep. You slept, yes, but you wake up tired. You are under spiritual attack because, during your sleep, your body has to repair itself. Your body has to gather strength for a new beginning, but for you, it seems like your body is resting while your soul is still tired, for whatever reason.
And your spirit knows that something isn’t right. Yes, you might try to ignore it, but deep down, your spirit knows something isn’t right.
2. You all of a sudden have what we call the spirit of heaviness.

What is spiritual heaviness? Spiritual happiness or spirit of happiness? Ah, let’s put it this way: When we say spirit of heaviness, we’re talking about depression, hopelessness. Anxiety. And then, out of that, you don’t even know where it comes from. And all of a sudden, it leads you into what? Procrastinate. So you put off things you’re supposed to do immediately.
You say you will do it next week. Next week, you don’t do it, so you keep pushing things back. Why? Because you are under attack. There is a spirit of heaviness. All of a sudden, you feel like it is no longer worth it to stay alive. All of a sudden, you feel like you should go off. You start thinking of signing out.
Now you are having suicidal thoughts. Now you are feeling like nobody loves you. Now you are feeling like nobody cares. All of a sudden, you are anxious.
3. Confusion or being double-minded.

The power says God is not the source of confusion. This is where you start having negative thoughts in life, and you don’t know why, but suddenly your thoughts turn negative. You suddenly become negative about many things in your life. You have reached a state of passivity. You can’t focus on anything because your thinking has become cloudy.
4. Unnecessary rejection.
As Christians, we understand that some rejections can be Godly. That is when God causes people to reject you so he can direct you toward something better. But the one we’re talking about here isn’t Godly at all. It pushes you into a state where you feel lonely in this world. But nobody will accept you. People accept you today. Tomorrow they reject you.
Where others are accepted, no matter what you try, you are rejected. What spiritual attack is that a sign of?
5. You are experiencing strong temptation
When you experience strong temptation, remember that God is not a tempter. But God is a tester. That’s why the Bible forbids us to say that every time you feel you are tempted, you cannot say that God is the one who’s tempting you.
So God is not the tempter; the devil is. God is a tester. He tests you on your strengths; the enemy tempts you on your weaknesses. That’s why he waited for Jesus to be hungry to come and tell him about bread. That’s why Jesus encouraged his disciples, and us, in Matthew 6, when he taught them about prayer, how to pray. That when you pray, say: lead us into temptation.
He cannot tempt you, but he can lead you. So whenever you feel tempted, especially when the temptation is strong, especially that temptation of wanting to go back to things God has already saved you from. You feel like now you are recycling what God is trying to replace in your life. You block someone, and all of a sudden you unblock them, meet them and lose God’s presence.
So I always say any relationship that pulls you away from God isn’t a blessing, but destruction. Why is Satan tempting you? He is tempting you to stop your Kingdom assignment. So it’s never about anything else at that moment than bringing destruction to your life through temptation.
He’s tempting you to stop your Kingdom assignment. You might not know what the assignment is at that moment, but there is something on the other side. That’s why every time you conquer, every time. You win, or rather, you come out of a temptation. You grow in rank, but every time you pass a test from God, you grow in grace.
So many people think they can pray to increase their rank. You can’t. It’s like somebody thinking they can pray to increase anointing. You can’t. How do you grow in rank? You grow in rank because of the temptations you have conquered.
You become a general in the Kingdom of God, not because of stars, but because of stars that, even when demons look at you, they say You see that one; that one is a conqueror. So you don’t just emerge; begin to ascend and start journeying in the spirit, especially when you haven’t conquered certain things.
6. Spiritual dryness

When we say spiritual dryness, we mean a lack of desire to pray, read the Bible or even fellowship with other brethren. All of a sudden, the spirit of prayerlessness has come on you. There’s a spirituality; there is a power somewhere that is targeting you. Some power is busy neutralising you.
So that spiritual dryness where you all of a sudden don’t have an appetite for the Word, it’s not you that brings it to yourself: some of you, when that happens, you get locked there forever until you realise it has crossed the line from the natural to the spiritual, because at the earlier time it started, you might be thinking that it’s ordinary.
So you treat it as if it’s natural. Once you treat spiritual things casually, you will become a casualty. So prayerlessness is bad. That’s why the book of Psalms 35: 13 says: I fasted, and I humbled myself before God, and my prayers were returned unto me.
What David is saying there is that I was experiencing spiritual dryness. Prayerlessness had taken over me, but to bring back the spirit of prayer, I went on a fast. So the quickest way to come out of spiritual dryness is to fast.
7. Consistent sicknesses

Or you are repeatedly sick. Today: headache; tomorrow: fever; the next day: back pain; the day after: it continues. This, you know, it seems as if you can be well. And sometimes you go to the doctor; they check you. They don’t even know what you’re talking about. You are feeling Ill, but the doctors check you and say, “On our side, we don’t see anything.” As a matter of fact, on our side, you appear to be perfectly fine. You are under special attack
8. Unexplainable losses in your life.
You lose money. You get money today; tomorrow, you don’t even know what happened to it. You work hard like an elephant, but you eat like an ant. You are going nowhere fast. You don’t care about direction; you care about speed.
We are trying to tell you direction matters more than speed, but you don’t care. You are going nowhere fast. No matter what you try, it will sleep out of your head. No matter what you get hold of, it will sleep out of your head. You lose jobs. You even lose good relationships. You’re under spiritual attack.
9. You start hating all of a sudden.
You suddenly feel like you hate somebody. Let me tell you something: The book of Romans 5: 5 says that the love of God is shed in us, but how is it that through the Holy Ghost? So you can’t be somebody in God who is love, and God in you who himself is love. God did not say, “I love”; he said, “I am love,” and all of that. You now feel the open. You are under spiritual attack.
The moment you say, “I hate my mother,” “I hate this person,” or “I hate that person,” and you’re a believer, it is not you talking. If you said that while Jesus was there, Jesus would have said Get thee behind me, devil.
