Welcome to Part 3 of our series on 20 herbs associated with spiritual protection and traditional beliefs about witchcraft. In the previous parts, we explored several plants and their spiritual significance in different traditions. This time, we will look at fennel, sage, mint, eucalyptus, onion skins, and lemongrass, examining the beliefs associated with each and how people have incorporated them into spiritual practices. Let us continue.
11. Fennel

Fennel is known as an herb that helps with digestion, but many people don’t know it also has strong spiritual power that protects the vulnerable, especially children. There are families where children keep falling ill, experiencing night terrors or seeing shadow figures in their sleep.
In most of these cases, spiritual vulnerability is high. When you crush and boil it, then add it to bath water, it has brought peace to countless households. One mother I counselled had a baby who would cry uncontrollably every night at the same time.
Doctors found nothing wrong, but after adding Fennel-infused water to the baby’s bath for seven nights while playing worship music and praying, the crying stopped. Peace flooded their home. Fennel guards the innocent. It places a wall of divine safety around children and new believers.
Avoid households that spiritually guard their children with herbs like fennel because the atmosphere becomes hostile to evil. These five herbs are your defence system; they don’t attack, they shield. They create boundaries in the spirit.
- Garlic wards off general spiritual field beliefs.
- Bay leaf disconnects and blocks.
- Camphor cleanses and resets.
- Cloves confuse and blind.
- Fennel protects the innocent.
Together, they work like a force field that blocks spiritual arrows, stops psychic attacks and shuts doors witches have tried to open in secret. If people have ever randomly hated you, blessings have dried up out of nowhere, or gifts have brought strange energy, it is time to use these herbs with prayer.
The enemy often infiltrates as a stranger. For example, a stranger leaves a cursed object in your home, a relative visits with a spiritually attached gift, or a neighbour’s jealousy opens a door in the spirit. You may never see it happen physically, but it grants spiritual access.
That is why protection is not optional. These herbs help you seal your space. They make your home spiritually unavailable to wickedness. These herbs make every door, window and room spiritually invisible to monitoring spirits. Witches cannot find what they cannot see. They cannot curse what they cannot access.
I have observed that many believers pray but leave their homes open and porous. You clean your heart, but you still leave your house uncleaned. Or you anoint your forehead but still forget to anoint your front door, too. You see, you are only making your home accessible to the evil ones. That’s why I have always emphasised that protection must be practical.
When used in faith, these herbs complete your protection. It is not superstition; it is strategic; it is spiritual; it is wisdom. Start by choosing 2 or three herbs that resonate with your situation.
- Burn cloves and beliefs together to stop spiritual monitoring.
- Use camphor and garlic water to wash your floors and cleanse your walls
- Bathe children in fennel water to stop nightmares
Do not wait for the next attack; act now!
The enemy hopes you will stay passive, but when you become spiritually proactive, the table will turn.
Now relax. We are not done yet. Did you know some herbs clean beyond the surface? These herbs can enter your dreams, unlock discernment, and clear spiritual fog.
12. Sage

Sage is more than smoke; it is a purifier of atmospheres. When you light sage with intention and prayer, you are not just releasing fragrance into the air. You are issuing a command into the spirit realm that no unclean force can stay.
From my experience and observation so far, I have come to realise that when it comes to deliverance, evil spirits are also tied to places, not just people. They even linger in different rooms of a particular house; they even hide on furniture and around entry points. Burning sage while speaking words of cleansing and restoration forces those invisible powers to flee.
A man and his wife bought a house, but unknowingly, the previous owners had practised dark rituals there. So, every night, this couple saw shadows pass through the house’s walls. Sounds scary, right?
I told them to burn sage in every room and pray for deliverance. A few days later, the couple called me and said something had shifted. And guess what? Their problem was solved, and they started enjoying peace in their new home again.
Sage works not because of superstition, but because God created it to carry cleansing power, and when paired with prayer, it cleanses spiritually.
13. Mint

Mint is often overlooked, but it is a powerful dream defender. This herb is known to confuse dark spirits and restore clarity in sleep. Some people wake up from dreams exhausted, not rested, because their dreams were battles, attacks or traps. Mint under the pillow, in tea, or scattered at the corners of your bed can break those cycles.
I had a conversation with a young woman who used to dream of being chased every night. In the dream, they kept chasing her, and she could not see the face of the one chasing her.
It was really worrisome to her that she could never see the face, but the fear followed her even after waking up and after she began placing fresh mint leaves under her pillow and praying for God’s protection over her dreams. She said the chase stopped, and she started receiving visions instead.
Mint doesn’t just protect your mind; it also clears your mind and ears spiritually so you can hear what heaven is saying.
14. Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus has a strong scent, but few people understand its spiritual power. This herb breaks through spiritual congestion. You can sense it when you’re spiritually stuck. Opportunities keep delaying, prayers feel blocked, or confusion clouds every decision.
Burning eucalyptus or adding it to bath water has delivered many from stagnation and spiritual fog. One woman boiled eucalyptus and poured it over her doorstep. While declaring an end to delay, that same week a long-delayed court case was resolved.
She said it felt like something heavy had been sitting at the entrance of her life, and now it was gone. Eucalyptus carries breakthrough. It opens the way in the spiritual realm and breaks the walls.
The enemy silently builds around progress, and eucalyptus hates it because it unblocks what they tried to shut down.
15. Onion skins

Onion skins may seem useless, but they are one of the hidden secrets of spiritual discernment and cleansing. These fragile layers carry a powerful anointing when born with prayer; many people receive gifts. Enter relationships or bring strangers into your home and feel off afterwards, but you can’t explain why. That is spiritual contamination.
Burning onion skins purifies air that has already been spiritually contaminated. It also breaks soul ties. I once told this story about a pastor who said his church began to experience division after a certain speaker visited. He said that after that day, he noticed his members growing cold, prayer declining, and unnecessary arguments arising.
Then, after a night of prayer, his wife was led to burn onion skins on the altar to cleanse the entire building spiritually. This was all she did, and then, the next Sunday, peace returned to the church. The truth is, onion skins expose what the enemy hides. They may seem like trash, but spiritually, they are powerful.
16. Lemongrass

People use lemongrass when they feel constantly monitored spiritually by witches or spirits sent to track their movements, dreams, or spiritual growth. Lemongrass disrupts that surveillance. All you need to do is boil it and use the steam to cleanse your home. This provides strong spiritual protection for many believers.
A lady kept dreaming of snakes that stayed in one place and watched her silently from a distance. She had this dream more than once; I told her to cleanse her home with lemongrass steam and seal every room with prayer. After she did what I told her, the dreams stopped. She said she felt so free in her spirit, and happiness returned to her life.
Lemongrass not only cleanses, but it also blinds the monitoring spirits. It tells the enemy you no longer have access. That is why it is important to keep lemongrass in your house, especially during seasons of transition, growth or increased spiritual activity.
These five herbs are essential when you are feeling so dull in your spirit,
- Sage clears spiritual leftovers.
- Mint protects and restores dreams.
- Eucalyptus opens closed doors.
- Onion skins reveal hidden attacks.
- Lemongrass hides you in the spirit.
Together they walk like a divine detox. They don’t make you powerful on their own, but when used with prayer, they prepare your spiritual environment for clarity, discernment and protection.
Witches operate in confusion and clutter. These herbs cancel that. Too often people wait until they are under heavy attack to act, but by then it is much harder to fight. These herbs are preventative. They are spiritual maintenance.
It’s so important to clean your space regularly because it keeps you spiritually sharp, helps you hear God more clearly, notice red flags faster and sleep in peace. Do not just react to evil; prepare your space so evil cannot stay. A clean, thin spiritual atmosphere is protected.
Do not worry if you cannot access all 5 herbs. Start with what you have. Born sage with prayer. Place mint under your pillow; boil eucalyptus. And point at your front door. Keep onion skins in a bowl and burn them during prayer.
Use lemongrass water to clean surfaces. Speak life, protection and clarity as you use them. Do not rush. Be intentional. This helps respond to faith, not performance. If you have been feeling spiritually drained, emotionally exhausted, or mentally foggy, this is your moment. God is giving you tools to take back your authority.
Let us move forward in the next and final herb group. We go into herbs that restore peace, give courage and release boldness. These are the herbs that strengthen your inner man and make you unshakable in the face of warfare. Get ready. You can locate the part 2 here And then the part 1 here
