What if you chose this life? What if, before you were born, you were looking down on the world and you had many choices of the bodies that you could inhabit for this life, and that you chose the body that you? Now what if you knew every challenge you would face and still chose this life?
You chose your body, you chose your challenges, and you chose them because you knew who you would become through all of those challenges. You saw your future self and said, “Yes.” That’s who I want to be.
How would that change your outlook on where you are right now and all of the things you’ve gone through? See, there are two ways to look at this world. One, you can look at it as if everything is just happening to you. Or you could choose to see it as if everything is happening for you, because then you look at your life and start to realise that everything that’s ever happened to you, and what’s happening now, is for your benefit.
And now I understand it’s hard to understand. Except it can be hard to believe when something bad is happening to you, because it can feel like the entire world is against you and nothing seems to be working out sometimes. And it’s incredibly hard to believe in those moments that you chose.
I understand, and I know these things are actually happening to you. That’s a tough pill to swallow. But think about your hardest times. They’ve always been terrible as you’re going through them, but if you look back at them now, you can see that every hard time in your life was actually one of your biggest life lessons, and it was a time when you probably learned the most.
And those times were the times that you actually grew the most, and they turned you into the person that you are now. I’ll give you an example of how this worked in my life. My father passed away when I was 15, and I always say that. For obvious reasons, that was the worst day of my life, but it was also the best day of my life because it was on that day that I realised my purpose, the reason why I’m alive, and I wouldn’t be doing the things that I’m doing now.
And impacting the people that I have. How do you not pass away? And that’s the biggest lesson that I’ve learned over my entire life. See, you must go through the hard times in order to become stronger, in order to grow, just like a deep cut. The scar that’s left from that cut is always stronger than the original skin that was there.

Or like a muscle, for instance. In order for a muscle to grow, you have to put it under intense physical strain. But it always, always comes back stronger, just like we do. So what if every time you thought you were failing at something, you were actually being guided toward something better?
And I know we’re talking about a complete reframe of how you think about your life. But when you stop and think about it, it just makes sense, doesn’t it? Because if you chose this life, then you chose your challenges, knowing how much you would have to grow from them and what you would become after going through them.
So it’s time to reframe your mind. The next time you face one of those challenging times, ask yourself this question: What am I supposed to learn from this? How will this help me grow into who I’m supposed to become?
Because every challenge is a time to learn and grow, but you have to be the one who’s willing to stop, take a deep breath and extract the lesson from each hardship because this world is on your side. I promise you it is. And everything that’s happened to you in your life was not happening to you. It was happening for you.
